The iPad is all the rage lately and despite my feelings about being tired of hearing about the iPad, I found myself wanting one. So I started to take a real look at the iPad and the other touch screen tablet devices that are poised to hit the market this year. So I put together a table to do a side by side comparison of several devices that have caught my eye. It should be noted that official/final specs for the devices other than the iPad haven’t been released. Below are the specs that I’ve gathers for the devices so far: Apple iPad HP Slate Notion Ink – Adam Price $499 (16GB) $599 (32GB) $699 (64GB) $549 (32GB) $599 (64GB) $327 – $800 Storage 16GB/32GB/64GB 32GB/64GB [Read More...]

There is so much hype out there about the iPad currently and everyday it seems there is a new crop of stories propping up. Stories about what people are going to use theirs for, what applications are being/have been developed for it, how many people have pre-ordered it, and a number of other things. Everyday my technology news gadget on my iGoogle home page has something new about the iPad, something new I don’t care about. The only times that I’ve see articles come up in this space talking about the iPad that I like are when they are talking about it’s limitations or the alternatives that are coming out or have already been out for awhile. There are many different alternatives out there, some [Read More...]

I personally am one of the people who is extremely excited about the fact that the Chrome OS is now out in the hands of the community. What this means to me is that as early as next year we could start seeing devices running the Chrome OS, which I personally can’t wait for. I’ve been in the market for a good netbook for over a year now, the problem is there is nothing out there that seems perfect for what I want. I want something lightweight, fast and very portable with a slick interface and preferably touch screen. The problem with the majority of netbooks out in the market right now is they are running off of a windows based operating system. While there [Read More...]

A friend of mine shared with me a video from TED talks of Pranav Mistry going over the potential of SixthSense technology. Now you may have to watch the full fourteen minute video to understand my excitement over this technology that is being referenced. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the technology and don’t want to watch the 14 minute video just yet I will go into a bit of detail as to the scope of this technology, I would still highly recommend watching the video though. SixthSense technology as he call it is a device that is worn that can interpret certain objects that are in front of you and provide useful information for you. In one of his examples he holds [Read More...]

As most owners of the HTC Hero I suffer from battery life issues. My phone spends a good portion of it’s day on a charger. Either my charger at home plugged into a wall outlet or at my desk at work charging via a USB cable. This is not a big deal for me as I am not without a charger for my phone that often but it still does not seem right the rate at which the battery life on my new HTC Hero drains. Turns out there are several reasons why the battery on this phone runs out so quickly. There is also something that you can do in order to extend your battery life on your Hero. The first issue with the [Read More...]
